We were fortunate enough to hold this CLE event. With all the controversy surrounding college athletics this year, it was refreshing to hear from these distinguished individuals on how to avoid legal and ethical issues in college athletics. We also handed out free tickets to the SMU men’s basketball team so next time make sure to come to our event because you never know what we may give away!
Leigh Steinberg, of Steinberg Sports & Entertainment. Mr. Steinberg, whose 40+ year long career provided the basis for the Oscar-winning film, Jerry Maguire, is a leader in the professional sports and entertainment representation industries. He has represented some of the most successful athletes and coaches in football, basketball, baseball, hockey, boxing, golf, etc., including 8 number one overall picks in the NFL draft and multiple Olympians. With an unrivaled history of record-setting contracts, Mr. Steinberg has secured over $3 billion for his 300+ pro athlete clients, and directed more than $750 million to various charities around the world. We were so fortunate enough to have Mr. Steinberg come to our campus and give a talk about the exciting opportunities available to law school grads to use their JDs to pursue careers as professional athlete and/or musician agents.
Don’t forget to stop by and meet our Executive Council. We will be tabling from 2-4 pm on August 31st in the SMU Deman School of Law Karchar Auditorium.

On Wednesday, August 31st, 2017, we held our “Go Sports” CLE event which included the above mentioned attorneys and general counsels. The event was hosted by SMU Dedman School of Law and The Mustang Bar Law Alumni Association. We were also fortunate enough to have it sponsored by The General Counsel Forum, Winstead Andrews Kurth, and Mercer Capital. Above are some videos we took of the event.
